VOLUNTEER
Ujuzi recently started to host volunteers to help the NGO to pursue its mission. Ujuzi is pleased to welcome enterprising people that are looking forward to making a change in Tanzanian society. The NGO offers a comfortable accommodation, where the office is located, and asks the volunteers for some help with daily work such as business development, website updates, social media managing, and working on youth empowering projects.。

KARIM
My name is Karim (25) and I am from Canada. I came to Dar es Salaam for the last stretch of a 6-month period of travelling and volunteering in Kenya and Tanzania. It was my first time in Africa, and I can say that my UJUZI experience was undoubtedly one of the greatest highlights of my trip.

I discovered the opportunity on WorkAway, whilst I was working another Workaway volunteer opportunity in Kenya. For those who have done this kind of volunteering work before, you will know that the reality of the situation is not always the same as what is described by the hosts. This was my experience with an orphanage in Kenya, and which is why UJUZI was such a beautiful experience.
From early on, Kai was extremely responsive and helpful. Her instructions for work were very clear, and she made sure I had a full agenda. Kai is also an excellent Swahili teacher; if you pay attention you will learn a lot from her!

Discover your Talents
The accommodation was exactly as described (big room, private bathroom, and AC!), and the UJUZI family were such warm hosts. A big thank you to Eva, Cathy and Philipo for being the kindest and friendliest people.
My time with UJUZI was more than just work — I shared meals with Cathy, I taught Philipo English, I worked out with Shedrack, I had futari with Eva and her family for Ramadan, and attended fun networking events on behalf of UJUZI. If you are looking for a fulfilling and purpose driven volunteer adventure, UJUZI is the place for you. Remember to leave behind your Western expectations (yes, sometimes there are power outages and the water can run out), and to experience the place from a local perspective.
Sending my love and blessings to my UJUZI family, asante kwa kila kitu! Nakukosa ❤
